To answer a common question in advance: Why do you use Microsoft Excel as basis for programming?

There are very good, independent programs for technical tasks, but Excel offers many advantages that justify use in this area:

•     Microsoft Excel is used by a large number of companies and the costs are manageable
•     programs and data can be flexibly adapted, imported and exported
•     the presentation can be adjustet individually
•     there is a big number of built-in spreadsheet functions
•     missing functions and automated sequences can be easily implemented with macros and VBA

The bottom line is that many tasks can be solved more completely and with less costs than it is possible with a special program.
