The programs that I create in Microsoft Excel almost always use macros and VBA programming.

In recent years, malicious programs and macro viruses have made the security settings for operating systems and programs understandably more and more restrictive.

This makes the use of macros and add-ins more difficult, since in most cases security settings have to be adjusted or the programs and add-ins in question have to be released prior to use.

Depending on the settings, the user can make the adjustments by himself or he has to ask the system administrator, e.g. if general restrictions are in force in company networks.

For the majority of my programs, macros and programming are essential, e.g. for form-based user guidance, realizing automatic operations and calculations and many handy features that otherwise have to be done manually. Therefore, I cannot simply leave out macros.

For this reason, I no longer offer demo versions on my website. I only send them after contacting me which offers the opportunity to clarify any queries from users or administrators in advance.

For my programs, which I distribute together with Vogel-Verlag, there is the special feature that the programs are delivered without activated macros, but the macro code is included as a text template. This allows users and IT managers to have a look at the code prior to installing it, simply by copy and paste.
